The Snelling Lecture

Since 2006 the congregation has sponsored an annual Snelling Lecture by a distinguished speaker on topical issues of interest to the wider community. It is so named to honour the memory of Mrs Irene Snelling, whose legacy on her death in 2004 enables much of our community outreach.

Past speakers have included the cleric and broadcaster Rev Richard Coles, Baroness Shirley Williams, Sir Simon Jenkins, Baroness Julia Neuberger, Baroness Joan Bakewell, Falklands War veteran Simon Weston and BBC presenter George Alagiah.

The 2019 lecture, on Thursday 14 November, was  given to a packed audience by the award-winning author and travel writer Isabella TreeHer subject was the pioneering re-wilding project in West Sussex that she and her husband have been nurturing since 2002.
