A Message from Our Minister
I have worn glasses since I was 4 years old. For some time I was the only one in my class with spectacles. These spectacles often displayed sellotape and elastoplast down the sides from where they had been patched up following scrapes initiated by others calling me "Specky Four Eyes!". Thus I look at life through glass - I reach for my spectacles as my first action on waking.
Oxted URC now has glasses, as it were, since the alterations to the entrance. The glass is purposely there to say that we are open. It is an invitation to look in and to enter into our activities, into our worship and into our community life. It is intended to express the truth that all are welcome: welcome to help one another to "look through a glass darkly" in terms of faith, and welcome to search and see if we can assist one another in sharing perspectives on faith and hope, in the context of eternal love.
Once we enter, we are also invited to look out into the world and recognize that, supported by what we share on the inside, we are challenged to go out and to support the community also in the spirit of faith, hope and love.
On the inward journey and on the outward journey, we welcome fellow pilgrims!!
God Bless
David (Skitt) - Minister
