The style of our services is a relaxed formality in a flexible order. A theme for the service is reflected in readings, (mainly from the Bible but including other prose and poetry), in the talk to the children and in the address given by the Minister or other leader. A leader will guide our prayers, which will include our thanks to God, and bringing before God the needs of our world, nation, community and family, as well as time for our personal concerns. Music is an essential part of our worship, and includes old and new hymns and songs, usually accompanied on piano or organ, and sometimes led by the children or by a group of singers recruited from within the congregation. Once every month, usually on the first Sunday in the month, we celebrate the Lord's Supper, combining an historic remembrance with the present-day gathering of Christ's disciples. We break bread and share wine - usually unfermented juice so that all who will may share. On three Sunday mornings a year we join with our fellow-Christians at All Saints (Roman Catholic) and St. Mary's (Church of England) for a united service in one or other of these three Oxted churches. The main festivals of the church year are reflected in special services in Advent, at Christmas, in Lent and at Easter and Pentecost. A Youth and Children's festival is normally held in June and a Harvest Thanksgiving in the Autumn. Sunday Services
The church family gathers each Sunday at 10 a.m. We praise God in hymns and songs and prayer. We share the message of, and the stories about, Jesus - because he is, for us, the best way to knowledge of God. Children are together with adults for the first part of the service, before they leave for Junior Church activities in other parts of the building.
